Revision Frontal Sinusotomy After Middle Turbinate Lateralization

Indications:

  • Frontal sinusitis following ESS
  • Lateralized middle turbinate

Highlights:

  • Lysis of adhesions and mobilization/resection of middle turbinate
  • Removal of Agger nasi cells
  • Probing and enlargement of frontal ostium
  • Optional placement of Silastic stent

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • It has been often found and also proved that frontal sinus stents are not useful to improve long term patency.
  • If this technique fails, a formal frontal sinus drill out (modified Lothrop) may be necessary.
