Eustachian Tuboplasty AS with Microdebrider
Indications:
- Eustachian tube dysfunction
- Recurrent serous otitis media
Highlights:
- Injection of posterior Eustachian tube cushion with vasoconstrictive agent
- Removal of hypertrophic mucosa from posterior cushion with microdebrider
Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:
- It has been observed that this procedure has been shown an improvement in Eustachian tube function in patients with chronic sinusitis; however, it is not certain whether improvement in Eustachian tube function is related to tuboplasty or the concurrent sinus surgery.
- Mucosa of anterior cushion must be protected in order to avoid postoperative adhesions.
