Eustachian Tuboplasty AS with Microdebrider

Indications:

  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Recurrent serous otitis media

Highlights:

  • Injection of posterior Eustachian tube cushion with vasoconstrictive agent
  • Removal of hypertrophic mucosa from posterior cushion with microdebrider

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • It has been observed that this procedure has been shown an improvement in Eustachian tube function in patients with chronic sinusitis; however, it is not certain whether improvement in Eustachian tube function is related to tuboplasty or the concurrent sinus surgery.
  • Mucosa of anterior cushion must be protected in order to avoid postoperative adhesions.
