Eustachian Tuboplasty AD with Microdebrider

Indications:

  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Recurrent serous otitis media

Highlights:

  • Injection of posterior Eustachian tube cushion with vasoconstrictive agent.
  • Removal of hypertrophic mucosa from posterior cushion with microdebrider.

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • It has been observed that this procedure has shown an improvement in the Eustachian tube function in patients with chronic sinusitis, however, it is not certain whether this improvement in Eustachian tube function is related to tuboplasty or the concurrent sinus surgery.
  • Mucosa of anterior cushion must be protected in order to avoid postoperative adhesions.
