Endoscopic Revision DCR
Indications:
- Failed primary DCR
- Recurrent epiphora or dacryocystitis
Highlights:
- Visualization of lacrimal probes indenting lateral nasal wall mucosa verifies position of lacrimal sac.
- All dissection occurs in close proximity to visualized probes.
- Visualization of the internal common punctum at the conclusion of surgery indicates adequate sac opening.
- A Silastic tube is placed to stent opening
Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:
- Revision cases can actually be easier than primary procedures because bone overlying the lacrimal sac has already been removed.
- Success rate lower than primary DCR
