Endoscopic DCR
Indications:
- Epiphora (excessive tearing)
- Dacryocystitis
Highlights:
- Drilling of bone along lateral nasal wall to expose the underlying lacrimal sac
- Passing lacrimal probes through the canaliculi
- Incising medial sac wall to reveal probes in sac interior
- Withdrawing probes from the nasal cavity and securing Silastic stent
Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:
- The entire medial sac wall should be removed to ensure best results
- Silastic stent is typically removed six weeks postop
