Endoscopic DCR

Indications:

  • Epiphora (excessive tearing)
  • Dacryocystitis

Highlights:

  • Drilling of bone along lateral nasal wall to expose the underlying lacrimal sac
  • Passing lacrimal probes through the canaliculi
  • Incising medial sac wall to reveal probes in sac interior
  • Withdrawing probes from the nasal cavity and securing Silastic stent

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • The entire medial sac wall should be removed to ensure best results
  • Silastic stent is typically removed six weeks postop
