Allergic Fungal Sinusitis

Case Presentation:

  • A 26-year-old man with right-sided decreased visual acuity and fungal sinusitis.
  • CT scan showed sphenoid sinus opacification, bony expansion and erosion of optic canal.

Highlights:

  • Fungal debris removed from ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses.
  • Vision returned to normal after removal of fungal debris.

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • Optic canal may actually be found in a posterior ethmoid cell (Onodi cell) instead of the true sphenoid sinus.
