  • To control epistaxis

 

Highlights:

  • Specific bleeding sites are identified with endoscope
  • Suction monopolar cautery, bipolar cautery and/or vascular clip may be useful to control bleeding depending on type and location of epistaxis

 

Keep in Mind:

  • Extensive cauterization of septum may lead to perforation
  • Expose 5-10 mm of proximal sphenopalatine artery within its bony canal prior to clip placement and/or bipolar cauterization
