 Indications:

  • Often occurs when removing uncinate process or lamella along the medial orbital wall
 
Highlights:
  • Blood-stained orbital fat can be easily mistaken for mucosa
  • Palpation of orbit will often result in visible protrusion of fat intranasally
  • Do not need to replace fat into orbital cavity or repair the boney defect
 
Keep in Mind:
  • Powered instrumentation should be avoided to minimize risk of inadvertent damage to orbital contents
