 Indications:

  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Recurrent serous otitis media

 

Highlights:

  • Injection of posterior Eustachian tube cushion with vasoconstrictive agent
  • Removal of hypertrophic mucosa from posterior cushion with microdebrider

 

Keep in Mind:

  • Although this procedure has been shown to improve Eustachian tube function in patients with chronic sinusitis, it is not certain whether improvement is related to tuboplasty or the concurrent sinus surgery
  • Mucosa of anterior cushion must be protected to avoid postoperative adhesions
