Nasolacrimal Duct Stone Removal

Indications:

• Epiphora
• Dacryocystitis

Highlights:

• Inferior turbinate can be gently medialized to allow entry into inferior meatus.
• Stenosis is incised and stone is removed.

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

• Short-term stenting of duct may be warranted until healing occurs.
• If region of stenosis is not accessible at inferior meatus then a standard DCR may be done.
• If a stone is suspected than imaging will often show location (CT or sialogram).
