Distal Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction

Indications:

  • Epiphora
  • Dacryocystitis

Highlights:

  • Inferior turbinate can be gently medialized to allow entry into inferior meatus
  • Nasolacrimal duct drains into inferior meatus via Hasner’s valve

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • Short-term stenting of duct may be warranted until healing occurs.
  • If region of stenosis is not accessible at inferior meatus then a standard DCR may be done.
