Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty

Highlights:

  • Balloon is directed slightly medially as it is introduced into Eustachian tube lumen.
  • Balloon is slowly advanced into lumen.
  • If any resistance is encountered the tube is withdrawn slightly before inflation.
  • Balloon is left inflated for two minutes and then it is withdrawn.

Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:

  • Balloon is intended to dilate the valve region in the distal portion of ET.
  • Balloon should never be advanced through bony isthmus, which is in close proximity top the carotid artery.
