Anterior Ethmoid Artery Bleeding
- Inadvertent injury may occur during an endoscopic sinus surgery.
- Control of epistaxis
- AEA runs along ethmoid roof in anteromedial direction
- Direction of arterial flow is from lateral to medial
Keep in Mind/Things to Remember:
- Bleeding may be controlled with suction monopolar cautery, which needs to be used judiciously on a low setting. Alternatively a bipolar cautery can be used to minimize current dispersion.
